'T' Shirts by Masashi Kawamura

A totally awesome concept from Masashi Kawamura. Combining typography and fashion into these clever "T" Shirts:

‘T’ shirts are T shirts that was designed to have the silhouette of 5 famous typefaces; Helvetica, Caslon, Baskerville, Courier, and Cooper Black.

In the world of typography, terms such as typeface, character, body, etc are used to describe the form of a letter. The reason why they use expressions closely related to a human body, is perhaps because each different letter has a distinct quality and personality, in a similar way that us humans are all unique.

In the designing process of these shirts, I aimed to capture the character of each typeface and tried to give them a unique look and presence once worn. By collaborating with Itaru Yonenaga, I feel we were able to produce a collection of shirts that is not only conceptual, but wearable as real clothes. I hope you will find your favorite shirt/typeface.

The Helvetica one is definitely my favorite, besides the obvious reasons. It's hip, minimal, and kinda androgynous. These will be available for purchase in January, but I must warn you, they're incredibly expensive (Helvetica is the cheapest at $230). I don't think I'd be able to justify buying one right now. When I have the money, though, you just wait...

Rifle Paper Co.

Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. creates absolute beautiful pieces (hand-painted with care) for her shop. Everything is absolutely flawless and gorgeous and charming and whimsical. Seeing her beautiful work, and realizing I couldn't do it if I tried, makes me want to cry. It's great that she makes such awesome work and makes a living off of it! I totally want to be her.

Earth Science Postage Series

n 1973 Canada Post celebrated the meeting of the main organizations concerned with the exploration of the earth (The International Geological Congress, the International Geographical Congress, the Congress of the International Society of Photogrammetry, and the International Conference of the International Cartographic Association). This cool modern postage series marks this incredible event and represents the various disciplines in a graphic and descriptive manner that would make Edward Tufte proud.

Olly Moss spotted in "Totally Lost"

I was watching Totally Lost (it's excellent), and noticed a poster from IBWL favorite Olly Moss. I was extremely impressed to see him represented in the offices at Entertainment Weekly. That's a feather in your cap, no question.

But it's fricken beautiful and totally epic.. And now I've been looking at NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day all day.

Space is so beautiful and fascinating.

Best thing ever- My Helvetica necklace

This was sort of a surprise Christmas gift from my mom. I didn't ask for it (I'm usually a bit picky about that), but it was most certainly a welcomed gift. Turns out I did actually ask for something similar (different manufacturer) a while back, which I forgot about until after Christmas. Anyway, it's BEAUTIFUL! It took some getting used to at first because the acrylic is a bit rough around the edges and my collar bones suffered a bit. I've taken to wearing lower-cut shirts so everybody can see it. I've gotten loads of compliments and a few confused looks, but it doesn't matter, because I'm the only one I know who has it, and now, like when I got my Helvetica Badge, my life feels a little more complete.

I love this minimal and elegant way of reporting the weather. I especially love the image they use for a rainy day. As they don't have Minneapolis available (yet), I have London bookmarked... I'm just all too wistful for the city.

I don't know why this took me so long, but I have to talk about "Seven Days", which is the work of Christina Couceiro. She's got a fantastic, consistent style. It's well suited to a wide variety of subject matter. Very smart indeed. I'm certainly a fan.

My whole self did the "aww" thing, you know, tilting the head to one side, angling the eyebrows into sympathy mode. It is a fantastically thought out poster and a cute one too. And at the core, the truest of true statements.

I have always felt this way about design (as long as I've been sober to it at least) but I've never been able to articulate it as finely as this. It's a beautiful sentiment. A bit snobbish, but you can't have good taste without being a bit stuck up...

I have to gush about this group that does letterpress. Not only is their work beautiful, but their site is fantastic! They have a full section dedicated to their inspiration as designers. And on top of it all it's stylish and cute and whimsical and romantic. If I wasn't planning on doing my own wedding invitations, I would be giving these guys a call.

This is a truly stunning poster by the firm Factor 27. I found it in a book of Rock posters my Roommate owns. It's just so... I don't know. Adjectives escape me right now. It's a transcendent design is what it is. I love it.
