Best thing ever- My Helvetica necklace

This was sort of a surprise Christmas gift from my mom. I didn't ask for it (I'm usually a bit picky about that), but it was most certainly a welcomed gift. Turns out I did actually ask for something similar (different manufacturer) a while back, which I forgot about until after Christmas. Anyway, it's BEAUTIFUL! It took some getting used to at first because the acrylic is a bit rough around the edges and my collar bones suffered a bit. I've taken to wearing lower-cut shirts so everybody can see it. I've gotten loads of compliments and a few confused looks, but it doesn't matter, because I'm the only one I know who has it, and now, like when I got my Helvetica Badge, my life feels a little more complete.

Wishlist- Tiny Mid-Century Modern Chairs

Look at these gorgeous little goodies! I have mentioned before that I have a great love of chairs, and today on Mod Cloth I have found these. Scaled down versions of iconic chairs from probably the best and coolest era for design. I would, of course, love to have all of them.

The only downside is that you can't choose which chair you buy--each one is supposed to be a surprise, which I think is silly if you want to collect them all. And this is true for any place you want to buy them from (unless you intend to buy the set of 9)

There are 5, count 'em FIVE volumes of this dynamic collection. So be sure to snatch them up now before they're obsolete.

The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog

Self-promotion annual gift limited to 300 numbered copies. Intending to share with clients and friends some of the graphic design universe, a typographic Concentration Game was created. It's comprised of 20 pairs of cards, each one presenting a different type family. Extra cards bring a typographical glossary with main terms and the explanation of the sentence witch names the gift: "the quick brown fox jumps to over the lazy dog". The package also contains a text about the evolution of type design, locating in history each font used in the cards.

Wishlist- "T" towel

I was just thinking this evening how I wanted some new tea towels. And then I go on a browsing frenzy with KCG and this is what happens. They have other nice tea towels, but this one is simplicity at its most divine.

BUY (YAY)
(I'm going to be really embarrassed when one day this blog starts getting readers and they see how many times a day I updated, fully knowing that I'm the only one getting anything out of it)

Best thing ever- My Helvetica Moleskine

I actually got this on my birthday, which was more than a month ago. I thought I should talk about it a little on here. Let me see. First, it's absolutely precious. I like holding it and running my fingers over the imprinted cross in front and type on the back. I kept the outside label on just so it's all in one place. There's a cute little file folder in the back and a red cloth bookmark. And best of all, it comes with a brief history of Helvetica.

Currently it sits atop a stack of design books on my desk. <3

Wishlist- Swiss First Aid Kit Box

I've been perusing SWISSMISS today (mostly the "switzerland related" tag) and saw this great first aid kit box. I'd love it, but to be kept as a tool box, most likely. Plus it's just plain cool because it's swiss. I got swiss on the brain today, I guess.

Typographic skateboard

If I skated, I'd be all over it. Good thing I don't, though, because it's $160.

Wishlist- Swiss Army Flash Drive

This is a pretty sweet little device, but good luck taking this on a plane. It's not HORRIBLY expensive, but it's better than the one they sell at American Apparel. Note to self: Never buy swiss army at American Apparel.

So awesome! Totally stylish. Too bad I already have a perfectly good hard drive and too bad this one is $157 on Amazon. Oh, to dream.

BUY?

Wishlist- Pantone Rubik's Cub, or "Rubitone"

This isn't available as a product. I'm not sure why. The only people who would buy it anyway would appreciate it greatly. I know I would love to have one on my desk, just for the novelty. Because as a design geek I feel it's essential! Someone ought to start a petition to get the ball rolling on manufacturing these.

Type Trumps

Type is my favorite part of Graphic Design. I think this game would be awesome. I probably wouldn't have anyone to play with, but it'd still be fun to have.
